MOMS:

The Fund for Mothers with Young Children

We are thinkers, teachers, parents, and carers who want a future for all kids.

With the ongoing destruction of human habitat and social fabric that future grows dimmer by the moment. We aim to brighten it with effective criticism, advice, and strategic grants.

All our services are free of charge.
All proceeds from the sale of Alma Mater books go to MOMS.

MOMS:
The Fund for Mothers with Young Children
is an all-volunteer, non-profit, tax-exempt, family foundation created in Hartford in 2006, Para Amor.

Our Moto:

Veritas, Austeritas, Caritas (Truth, Austerity, Charity)

Our Song:

“We Shall Overcome”

What shall we overcome? Be clear on this. We must overcome dishonesty, distraction, cruelty, selfishness, greed, bias, bigotry, apathy, arrogance, and war.

Vision:

Everyone has enough and works to ensure that everyone else has enough, and no one wants more than they need.

Mission:

To promote the greatest good for the greatest number of neediest mothers with young children.

Strategy:

To fund the most cost-effective means to MOMS’ mission by effective grants, Alma Mater Press, and SAFEGUARD (Student-Alumni Family Engaged in Gaining Universal Access to Rights and Democracy).

“Blueprint for a Dream”

Yale offered a course on happiness. It became popular and Yale offered it to the public. Harvard and other colleges followed suit. Blueprint is the fix for this tragic error. Earth’s fever is rising, ecosystems are crashing, plants and animals are racing to extinction, the ultra-rich are gobbling all the money, children are starving, while other children are growing obese, democracy is hanging by an unraveling thread, nuclear winter is lying in wait, and we’re running out of time. Is happiness what you really want? Fear, anger, sorrow, and desperation seem more appropriate. Extinction beckons.
Wake-up, and let’s save our species (SOS).

SAFEGUARD

The Student-Alumni Family Engaged in Gaining Universal Access to Rights and Democracy

When almost nine billion people divide into little circles with those on the inside certain they’re more important than those on the out, you get the world we have: Extreme wealth with abject poverty. Want a different world? Open the circles and let everyone in. Significant others make others insignificant. The family that matters is the ONE we all belong to. Let’s call it, SAFEGUARD (Student-Alumni Family Engaged in Gaining Universal Access to Rights and Democracy). Membership is free and without obligation. The goal is to build this dream: That we each can have enough if we all work to ensure that everyone else has enough, and none of us want more than that.

Schools, colleges, and congregations should form local SAFEGUARD chapters. Each chapter should display prominently the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and incorporate these into mission statements, strategic plans, lessons, and sermons. Most importantly, members of SAFEGUARD should challenge themselves and the public to change so as to be ever more in accord with human rights and responsibilities and UN goals.

To join SAFEGUARD, leave name, and contact info, along with the name and contact info for the school, college, or congregation hosting your chapter at doug@thinktankmoms.com. If you have no local chapter, write for info on starting one.
